The stomach is the main organ in the digestive system aside from the other organs which comprises this very important system in the body. This organ can hold the food that is being process by digestion which is one of the most important processes in the body and can give you energy that helps in maintain the daily living activities of a person. Many researchers say that stomach cancer is the second most deadly cancer in the world. It develops in the stomach and spreads eventually to different vital organs and parts of the body. Stomach cancer is also referred to as gastric cancer. If you are experiencing ulcers like duodenal or peptic ulcer, you do not need to worry because these conditions are not associated with this kind of cancer. But there are certain infections that can happen in the body triggered from bacteria and this is called the helicobacter pylori which can lead to stomach cancer. Individuals who have used smokeless tobacco or chew may also be more likely to develop stomach cancer if they have develoepd a habit of swallowing the tobacco juice over the course of their life.
Many studies and research have been conducted to prove that stomach cancer only develops in approximately 3 % of patients that have infections from bacteria that can result in cancerous development in the stomach. You need to destroy all the bacteria that may accumulate in the stomach to delay further development of the cancer. Anybody can be affected by this type of cancer in the body but it has been found to commonly affect people that have Down syndrome. Down syndrome patients do not have the right amount of immunity so that their body can fight the bacteria that can be accumulated in their stomach. Because they are born with many abnormalities and deficiencies in the body they tend to be open to other serious problems like gastric cancer.
Stomach cancer symptoms can be wide ranging and connected to symptoms of other ailments of the digestive symptom. Some of these include a loss of appetite and weight and abrupt changes in the body structure and condition that should lead you to consulting a physician as soon as practical. A number of diagnostic exams may be needed such as an ultrasound or ultimately a biopsy to take sample tissue from your stomach to determine if cancer has developed.
Early detection of cancer has been proven to be a primary ingredient to successful treatment. Treatments for this kind of cancer may include surgery which is common that can be: partial removal of the stomach, it can be a subtotal removal of the stomach or the total gastrectomy which is very common to those who are suffering total damage of the stomach.
