Stop Smoking Product – NicoDerm CQ
NicoDerm CQ is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) that uses a nicotine patch to deliver nicotine to the user. The patch is considered to be “transdermal” since it is applied to your skin, and delivers nicotine to your blood through your skin at a controlled rate and is used as a stop smoking aid.
How Does NicoDerm CQ Work?
NicoDerm CQ is used by smokers that are trying to quit tobacco for good, through a measured delivery of nicotine to the user which is reduced over time. The nicotine contained in the patch is enough to reduce cigarette cravings and nicotine withdrawal symptoms experienced when you quit smoking. As you use the patches, the company takes you through a program to slowly reduce the amount of nicotine that you ingest daily until you are nicotine free.
NicoDerm Committed Quitters Program
The neat thing about the NicoDerm product is the manufacturer provides an individualized stop smoking program with the product called Committed Quitters, or “CQ” for short. It is similar to other stop smoking plans in that it helps you create a tailored stop smoking plan for yourself using the NicoDerm product as well as provides tips and advice on how to be successful in your efforts to stop smoking. The company advertises studies that have shown that smokers who use CQ with NicoDerm patches increase their odds of quitting cigarettes by 28 % over those smokers who do not use a support program.
NicoDerm Options, Use, and Ingredients
The NicoDerm CQ patch comes in three strengths: 7mg, 14 mg, and 21 mg. You can choose from two lengths of program as well, 8 weeks or 10 weeks. If you smoke more than half a pack a day, they recommend that you start with a 21 mg patch for 6 weeks, then reduce the nicotine level to the 14 mg patch for two weeks, then finish the final two weeks on the 7 mg NicoDerm patch. If you smoke less than half a pack a day, they want you to use the 14 mg patch for six weeks, then shift to the 7 mg patch for the final two weeks. To apply the patch, you have to put on a clean and dry area of your skin and leave in place for 16-24 hours of the day. When you are ready for a new patch, a new area on your skin should be chosen for the patch. The active ingredient in NicoDerm CQ is nicotine with other ingredients being: ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, polyisobutylene, high density polyethylene, and clear polyester backings.
Should You Buy NicoDerm CQ?
NicoDerm CQ is a mature nicotine replacement therapy that has been on the market for a number of years. When used in conjunction with the Committed Quitters program, it has proven to be very effective in helping smokers kick the habit. If you try NicoDerm, however, and experience any discomfort, cease using the product and seek advice from your doctor. Smokers with sensitive skin may not be able to use NicoDerm CQ due to the potential for creating an itchy rash on their skin. As with any stop smoking product, you have to be committed to quitting tobacco for it to work!
